Just in case you missed the announcement on Instagram:
Massive Attack - Mezzanine (2018 Remaster)
2xCD includes the Mad Professor remixes and will come as a reproduction of the original Mezzanine digipack
Track list
Angel (2018 remaster) Risingson (2018 remaster) Teardrop (2018 remaster) Inertia Creeps (2018 remaster) Exchange (2018 remaster) Dissolved Girl (2018 remaster) Man Next Door (2018 remaster) Black Milk (2018 remaster) Mezzanine (2018 remaster) Group Four (2018 remaster) (Exchange) (2018 remaster)
Metal Banshee (Mad Professor Mix 1) Angel (Angel Dust) Risingson (Setting Sun Dub 2)* Teardrop (Mazaruni Dub 1) Inertia Creeps (Floating On Dubwise) Exchange (Mountain Steppers Dub) Wire (Leaping Dub) Group Four (Security Forces Dub)
Release Date: 16th November 2018
There's also an LP version (which is a bit pricey) but it also has a 'heat sensitive cover' like their Singles Box Set
* This (presumedly) is the same track that was posted on their Myspace ages ago
I'm hoping that the mixes of Group Four, Angel, Super Predators, Inertia Creeps, and Teardrop aren't just the same dub mixes from the singles (some seem to have different titles on the new release)

That’s a pretty poor track list. I would have hoped for the full version of “Wire”, the original version of “Superpredators”, “Nature Of Threat” and “Reflection”. Still, I can save my money.

For the price of it that is a crap release.
Powderfinger a hige Aussie band are releasing a 20th anniversary album of Internationalist. The deluxe vinyl is $60 and the deluxe cd is just $29. The vinyl has the album and live tracks the cds had the album 13 tracks and then 22 bonus live, rare and b-sides. That's how you do it.

To be fair though, the fanbase of Massive Attack far out numbers that of Powederfinger. So Powderfinger pretty much have to add as much as possible to the release to warrant it.

Well, I am excited to hear the other (previously unreleased) dubs, but I do agree... there's a LOT missing on this.
Like, why no "Euro Zero Zero" "Wire" or the vinyl-only tracks like "Risingson (Meyanderthal Mix)" ... plus it would be nice to have "Black Melt" without the glitch
I wonder if "Reflection" isn't included because it was written after Mushroom left?
"Nature of Threat" was supposed to be on the album that eventually became "100th Window". Like a whole album's worth of material was abandoned, while some tracks were reworked into '100th Window' and others showed up on "Danny the Dog" ("Polaroid Girl" was definitely from then)
I'm definitely getting the cd, but I'm really on the fence about getting the LP

I just bought the 2017 2lp repress a couple of months back because I wanted this on vinyl. I have the original CD in the oversized gatefold, bought from Our Price (R.I.P.) in 1998 with a free Melancolik label sampler, so the most I can justify here is the CD edition with the dubs on disc 2. I think this’ll be a case of listen on Spotify before spending again.

C’mon, that’s a piss poor, lazy release! It’s a total cash grab.

The fact that they’ve seen fit to include a dub version of “Wire” but not the original is just perverse.

Reflection appeared on several Mezzanine singles, so it would have been nice to have it included here. Not sure about Black Melt though. Wasn't it reworked a few years after the album dropped?

I picked up the original CD for 50p the other day. Been literally years since I heard it and figured it would make decent family-friendly car listening

RE: "Black Melt"
Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought that "Black Melt" (the 'rework' of "Black Milk") wasn't actually a "new" song, it was just an alternate version of the track, just without the Manfred Mann sample, recorded around the time of 'Mezzanine' but it just wasn't released until "Collected"
(I mean, they did do a few different versions of songs from that album - like 'Risingson' vs 'Risingson (Otherside)', the songs from "The Jackal", and so on...)
as far as the "glitch" in the track: (info taken from the MA info website) There's an "unexpected split second gap in sound at the 03:24 minute mark into the song. This is a deliberate gap of sound by Massive Attack for an unknown reason and not a mass production error on the disc, as what was originally postulated by many fans at first."
...I honestly don't think that error was deliberate.

“family friendly car listening”.... It's basically easy listening compared to my usual fare. David Scott Stone 'Plays The Modular Synthesizer' anybody?
