Just opened mine, ordered from BFI and landed today. Although I’m not a fan of the artwork for the cover/poster, I must say I’m impressed with the package- love how the discs fit in!
We need a new thread to see who’s got the lowest number- mine is 2228.

********SPOILER ALERT******* Just that it mentions the fall out between James and Pablo and James mentions getting a phone call from someone basically threatening all sorts of shit to expose James and his lack of creativity or whatever and say how the records were really made etc. That’s not much of a threat. “Hulk Hogan threatens to expose that wrestling is staged”

What is the booklet like? It’s quite nice, good use of Future work and then photos of bits over the years- discs go on thick cardboard pages with cut outs for the discs, but the disc images fit with the image on the page which is the impressive part. There’s words from the director and producers as well.

2276......it was a good watch, and gives us lots of clues to explain the issue around the Psyence Fiction anniversary release, nice to see him making up with an old friend towards the end, I hope he gets around to fixing a few other broken relationships.

Just finished the main feature and both commentaries from the director and the producer. I really liked it and did not feel that James was treated unfairly. Somehow James' signature on the booklet looks totally different from the scribble of deluxe CD of the album The Road (from Pledgemusic). Also wasn't there something about new music?

2052 This film made me feel very sad. Yea, i got the impression James got chewed up by the industry that was going through rough(er) times. And some people blamed him for what the entire industry was going through. However, I was glad to see that in the end, there were reconciliation with some people he worked with.

watched a small BFI interview earlier... quite interesting to hear James input after watching the first edit.
Didn't realise the DVD release is a different cut to the film we saw in 2016... in fact it sounds like the film has grown and grown since then.
it will probably end up with more edits than blade runner...

Disclaimer: I didn't watch all of it last night as I was more knackered than I realised. I did watch the bulk of it, though. Up to PF I knew, but it was still excellent to see firsthand accounts of it; after PF was largely new as I lost interest in UNKLE pretty much entirely when it wasn't MFW/Tim Goldsworthy/Shadow.
The main take-away is what defined Lavelle for me (and still does): A&Rs are not artists and therefore don't get artist credit. Plenty of A&Rs do produce - in which case they are artists and get paid as such - but "having a vision" gets you no royalty points, no matter how many interviews and photoshoots you do. JL didn't like this and ultimately broke his relationship with Shadow as a result.
As a side note: I watched it with my wife who has no real interest in MoWax or UNKLE or Lavelle or any of it. She found it really interesting and enjoyed it. Regardless of where you stand (and I appreciate we're all very much fans by the very nature of being in this community) it's a thoroughly well made and compelling documentary.
