Maybe I missed it back in the day (and can't find it via the shitty search), but is there a thread discussion about why the US version of NNL is called "The Original NYC Master"?

I remember some chitchat on that, compared wave-files etc. Turned out there weren't any differences concerning versions or lengths if I remember right. It has bonus & remix tracks though ...
And: Yeah, this search-robot is meh!

I started that thread some time ago when I bought a cheap copy of it for the second disc - "Inside Out"
Really nice box for it aswell.
There never was a real answer as to why this is called NYC Master - I worked out that the timing of the tracks when put into a CD player on programme differed to my original, but that was as likely the silence lengths.
I played it recently in my car and I thought it sounded crisper but that was probarbly as much to do with my improved car player than anything else.
This would be a good addition to the ask Pabs thingy.
Cheers
Alan

i thought the wrong master was put out originally by mistake? That's what I heard at the time too. Sonds like a load of rubbish. Good excuse for a Global Underground re-release though

I've compared the track times for the Japanese release and the NYC master.. slight end/start differences on a couple tracks (NYC Master starts What Are You to Me? with the guitar, and the Japanese starts it with "daydream..".. what are you to me/panic attack transition starts later on the Japanese).

It refers to the "Original Master" being used to master this version of the album as the wrong one was used first time round. For any of you with a good ear it is the superior sounding version (if you're not into compressing the hell out of your music that is).

I'm comparing both the FLAC version of the Original NYC master and a FLAC of the Japanese version, and they sound identical to me.
Care to point out any how the Original NYC version is superior?

It just sounds better. Much cleaner like a remastering but not a remastering cos it's from the "original NYC master". Like it was meant to be first time.

Listening to FLAC versions through headphones, they sound exactly the same in A/B comparisons.
Sorry dude, I just don't hear a cleaner, better sounding version in the Original NYC Master.

I have the Original NYC Master version (The limited edition) and the sound quailty really annoys me. It's like they just took the demos and didn't bother mastering it. It's not as clear or mastered as it should be, and it's the same issue with some of the tracks on Where Did the Night Fall

This applies for the one who makes the music, mastered the music and the listener.
