DVD Audio to MP3 using BeSweet
You'll need the following software for this guide.
BeSweet v1.5b29 + GUI .7b4
BeSweet combines a lot of the best audio encoding programs:
azid to decode AC3, ssrc to downsample,
WavBooster to increase the volume of the output file,
lame to encode to mp3,
high quality mp2 encoding,
Ogg Vorbis output, etc.
The program requires no temp files and operates in floating point mode whenever
possible, ensuring quick and high quality conversions. BeSweet also supports
various types of inputs, from mp2, mp3 over wav to AC3.
1) First of all you have to unzip the kit and have your audio source ripped to either a VOB right off the disk or an AC3 file.
Whenever you are unsure what an option does, just hover over it (the text) with the mouse pointer and you will get a help bubble explaining the option.
2) Now start up the BeSweetGUI.exe. Lots of options eh?
If you don't know what it does, you most likely don't need it. Pay attention to the top-left part of the window and
3) Click on the BeSweet button:
Then
4) Select the DSPGuru_mp3@128kbps profile. (This is preconfigured to average defailt options, which are perfect for 90% of people. If you decide you want a near-lossless rip to PCM then on the drop down select PCM (WAV/AIFF) instead of MP3)
Most DVD Audio is recorded to line level so it needs a volume boost for portable MP3 players so you can hear it comfortably without having to raise the volume and blast yourself on the next song ^_^
5) Under "OTA"-Overall Track Adjustments, it should be set to HybridGain on the second to last drop-down box. Experiment with this to see what makes you happy.
6) Then press the "VOB to ..." button and encoding will begin. Few minutes later, be impressed with your work.
