That's actually fair enough & I think it articulates what he means about a solo record better than I had previously understood. He's acknowledging the collaborations but saying it's what HE want's to do.
For now... I withdraw my sniping in another thread.

I also see what he means, but I'm sure his idea of a solo record is very different to most other people on the planet. I'd be interested to see what Matthew Puffett and Dorian Lutz think about this. Kudo/Josh/Rich/Pablo probably got sick of James sitting around smoking and so took over a bit in the studio. As a consequence they all made fucking good records. Weird thing to moan about.

Playing the victim a bit isn't he?
This was interesting anyway. Really hope those early pre Psyence Fiction demos are released.
“It’s funny, I’ve been dealing with this never-ending Psyence Fiction reissue, but I’ve sort of been finalising all that, and recently been finding all the tracks that I did pre-Shadow that were the demos for UNKLE, and that’s really interesting to hear, because you think – ‘what if we’d gone this way, not the Shadow route?’ – that really is very much more like what you hear now. They were a lot more electronic then.”

James is the featured guest on the new KILL YOUR IDOLS PODCAST. This one covers a lot of his influences as well as preview the new album: soundcloud.com/killyouridolspodcast/kill-your-idols-podcast-004-james-lavelle-unkleEdit: Listen in around the 50 minute mark where James talks about the pre-shadow PF demos he recorded with Tim. He said they were actually pretty good and were more NNL era onward than PF. He also said those will be coming out with the re-release of PF and it will be interesting to hear people's reactions to those.

From : www.hmv.com/music/unkle-the-road-interviewThis is Part One, so presumably, we can expect Part Two?“Yes, I hope so, I’ve done a lot of it already. The only thing actually that’s been difficult about this record is getting it out. Things are so different to how they were seven years ago, especially with vinyl pressing, I thought this record would be out in January and we could have Part Two out now. But then I got bored of things, so I had Part Two, and maybe I think now we’ll use half of it and I’ll do a new half. I see this as a trilogy, but it might go beyond that…”Dont forget this on tonight, I think its pre-recorded? Lavelle back with Eddy Temple-Morris on SohoRadio show.
