.:: 2018-08-19 - Massive Attack - Essential Mix Classic (1994-12-11) ::.
cover art by spook
Previous rebroadcasts: 10th April 2011.
The tracklist has been fixed being based off the original tracklist from the BBC Radio 1 website, subsequent tracklist revisions available on the web and help from YouTube & Discogs. Thanks to swamp for his help with this. Also, thanks to spook for his awesome "Essential Mix Classic" artwork.
The "Definitive Version" of this original broadcast was first "released" on 6th April 2006 by fellow tmb.dj member plugg, who had recorded this mix onto a VHS cassette tape. The audio is outstanding for a radio broadcast capture from the mid 90s. The 2011 rebroadcast was captured in both 128kbps aac and 160kbps mp2 formats, but surprisingly neither improved upon plugg's VHS restoration. It appears that the BBC replayed plugg's restoration!
I'm excited to say that this most recent rebroadcast does improve upon the audio quality. So we now have the best audio version of this awesome Essential Mix.
