So a great way to start a week or so I thought!
Good venue, crowd up for it, BUT
Gab never made sound check (according to sound desk) and it was clear from the start that his levels were well below the others (including Lateef who made a surprise appearance!).
They played for an hour, no encore- after last seeing them in Notts the other year which was excellent this was poor (never thought I’d say that about a Blackalicious gig!).
Maybe Gab’s health is getting worse.

Maybe Gab’s health is getting worse. ...Has it been a concern in the past? Hopefully it was just an off night.

I think he’s on dialysis, I’m sure he’s mentioned that in interviews or live in Notts. Spent more time than in the past on sat on a stool; Lateef was quality and had the crowd going but it’s always been Gab whose been the presence, and he just wasn’t!

Gab wasn't in a good way when they played here last February. Admittedly it was a really hot night but he was in a chair a lot of the performance

On a positive, he did say Imani Vol 2 is out next year (just about heard him say it- you wouldn’t believe how bad his mic was!)
