Living in America, it was really tough to find all the Mo'Wax releases, so there were tons I missed out on. I have been going through the Urban Archeology book to rediscover the back catalog and I have been blown away by The Prunes! Seriously dope instrumental hip hop. I know they did an Excursions EP on the label and released 1 album (not on Mo'Wax), but I wanted to see if anyone had the story on this crew? Seems like they were pretty short-lived...who's got some insights to share??

Thanks brotha, but sadly these don't sound like The Prunes. I need more of that instrumental hip-hop flava!

Have you gone through their discography? www.discogs.com/artist/1445-The-PrunesSome amazing stuff waiting to be discovered. Pizza King soundtrack, their 12" for Grand Royal, remixes for the Beastie Boys and DJ Krush, various tracks on the New Breed record label. Also they have two albums, one on New Breed and a compilation for Japan. One of my favorite things they did was a Breezeblock DJ mix for BBC Radio 1. I can upload a load of stuff if you like? Also have you heard of Pelding? They sound like a live-band version of the The Prunes (both groups feature Peder). They got some great EPs and an album on Jazz Fudge (DJ Vadim's label). Saw them live with DJ Vadim and Blue Rum 13, years ago. They were amazing as I recall.

Never heard of Pelding but if it's a live band style of The Prunes, I need to hear them ASAP. I can't seem to find the Breezeblock DJ mix anywhere, so whatever you can upload for The Prunes and Pelding is kindly appreciated!!

Good question, I couldn't see it anywhere else. Has anyone got a rip of it?
Just realised I'm missing a load of remixes by The Prunes. Can anyone help out with these? I've got a few of these on vinyl but it'd be nice to have mp3s.
Beastie Boys - Sure Shot (European B-Boy Mix) Beastie Boys - Root Down (Free Zone Mix) Beastie Boys - Putting Shame In Your Game (Prunes Remix 2) The Thomas Clausen Trio & Gary Burton Flowers & Trees (The Prunes Remix) Pelding - Politician (Prunes Remix) Den Gale Pose – Den Danske Skole (SveskalistiskFaldDødOmActionmanRemix) DJ Krush - Meiso (Prunes Mix) Blue Foundation – Wiseguy (The Prunes Remix) Blue Foundation – Misty Beat (Remix By 1 / 3 Pelding) Blue Foundation – Wiseguy (The Prunes Beat-Instrumental) Malk De Koijn – Å ÅÅ Mæio (Prunes Remix)

I might have some of the Beastie Boy remixes on CD somewhere. I'll need to find them. It might take a day or three to find them.

So no obsessive fans of obscure Norwegian hip hop here? You guys disappoint me.
Cheers Dusted!

They didn't remix the Beastie Boys' "Pass the Mic" from memory? They did remix the Latch Brothers track "Rockin The Mic" though. The Latch Brothers were Mike D (Beastie Boys), Wag and Tick. They didnt release too much, most notable was stuff they did on a sampler for the "Jet Set Radio Future" video game. www.discogs.com/Various-Jet-Set-Radio-Future-Music-Sampler/release/132516I think that was the only place to get the track, though I could be wrong.
