is there NO writing in it? just pictures? Plenty to read. Good interview with Shadow & Lavelle and plenty of (small) contributions from various artists and contributors. It's quite poorly written though, and geeks like us will spot a lot of errors. I don't think that Ape Vs Mo'Wax came out after Ape Sounds, for instance. It's a lovely piece of work, but it's a shame that it wasn't better researched.

It's a lovely piece of work, but it's a shame that it wasn't better researched. That is inexcusable in these enlightened times of Wikipedia and Discogs. Not to mention the fact that they have all the records right in front of them (as well as some of the people that made them) and hoards of geeks begging to help out with the project (that were all almost entirely ignored). It is really nerdy and nit-picking, but if you don't get it right there's no point. Still pretty excited about picking this up later though.

it seems to be a sneaky picture of the headz headz headz 7" at least that's what i'm taking from it. it's a white label 7 inch in a plain white sleeve with 'prunes' hand writted on it. it's the only image in the book which hasn't got a description on it, and it's the very last page. I'm thinking it's a little joke from james.

Its nice to see something actually get finished that JL starts. As Mog has stated the last page is the best part. Didn't JL say he couldn't remember in the Q&A on Mo'Wax Please?

This book is fucking amazing. Really love how it's got a cat. number. So many mad projects like the Grand Royal Vs Mo'Wax LP and the Sun Ra remix album - genuinely started salivating like a loon. There was nearly MO'WAX LEGO!
What record sleeves has Stash designed though (mentioned on the back cover)? It's none isn't it?

I was sure that the MW cat number would be like the cherry on top for you too Mo' Matt I knew about the Grand Royal vs Mo' Wax project but not about the Sun Ra one. There's almost a tracklisting so some of tunes probably exist! I love documents like those ones, I would have loved to find more in the book. As for Stash, as far as I know the only thing he's done for Mo' Wax is customising the green Lavelle toy (+ the exclusive LED version for James), and some appearances in shows/exhibition, but no sleeve.
