Search the boards. Probably bought up by JD Sport. Dover Street Market is the new hypebeast stomping ground apparently.

The chap who runs Wood in Manchester claims that JD sports only wanted the buildings, and have basically left MHI without a store, having bought the both the DPMHI store, and the Maharishi one off them for peanuts when they went into administration, and then they didn't buy up the actual comany. I have no idea whether this is true or not (and may well be a bunch of horseshit) Maharishi seem to be re-launching as "maharishi london" ( www.maharishilondon.com) but there's only an e-mail address on the site. Perhaps more news will arise from there.

I was out shopping for threadz the other day in a shop called sa-kis. They have new season gear in and the owner was telling me JD sports never bought maharishi and its all gone back in house, i.e. Blechman sacked a load of people he didn't need, less items etc.. Whatever's going on, for the time Maha's still around. www.sakis.co.uk/Maharishi.aspx

I was in Wood last week and had the same conversation! Orders are still being made for maharishi, just the retail that is no more. All production has been moved to India apparantly. Was told not to worry, JD are not going to be stocking Maha in any shape or form.

I never expected to see Maha on the high street, it's just better keeping everything independent and a bit exclusive.

I am friends with the former owners of JD Sports (John Wardle and David Makin) they now own Foot Asylum, i was involved with the set-up of the first 10 stores and used too manage the flagship in Mannie, i am afraid that JD HAS bought MHI. JD Sports was sold too Pentland brands (they own the distribution rights too Ted Baker and Lacoste etc). They have only bought MHI thou not mainline Marha!
They want to re-brand the SIZE? stores with better product and maybe even call them FOOT PATROL to piss FOOT ASYLUM off as they did buy the naming rights to that when it shut, they have already snapped up STUSSY (should be in-store for A/W 2009) and MHI will follow around the same time! Also bad news for London shoppers CINCH (the Levi concept store) is closing too ! Which is why HIDEOUT now do Levi Vintage!
Bad times London......

Is it an agreement that if a shop becomes a supreme stockist, they can't do mailorder?

Yes mate, but it depends who you know in the shops... they will do mail order if you have the right contacts! Dover Street is harder than Hip, if you ring Hip speak too Mark he might post out too ya! If they know you face after a few visits and more importantly purchaes they will do! Esp as teh credit crunch bites sales for indies

So now MHI and Maha are separate? That sounds mental, but sounds like you know enough people who know people.
Ah, fuckit, I've got 10 times as many tees as I could ever need anyway.
