going to bed now but I'll try to tackle it tomorrow.. I'll pick up some proper scotch/opaque tape as well. how long should the actual piece of tape be? and is it lengthwise from outer edge towards inner edge, or does the tape need to wrap around the outer edge?

the rare studio bit last over 4 minutes with spoken words (sound like JL) such as 'help' 'I've changed' etc. I've described it completely on another thread in FAQ a year or two ago, its not a tune by a any stretch of the imagination. This has nothing to do with any version of NNL intro 'changes'.

I can get as far as covering up the data (in Windows Explorer it will only show desktop.ini instead of all the other files), but it still thinks it's a data cd.. I'll keep trying.

however, this isn't working.. I tried with Easy CD-DA Extractor and managed to Action > Read TOC > Sub-code Analyze and it now sees the audio.. but it won't rip it.

MoG are you sure the black marker in the inner ring didn't fuck the CD? can you play the CD in a regular CD player? and of course if we do manage this, a proper Test & Copy, FLAC + .log + .cue would be awesome.

if you look really closely at the proper angle, you can see a break where the audio ends and the data begins. also,

As long as the tape is not clear, t'is not the tape that matters (did it with sticky part of a PostIt), it is more the exact spot to find, that covers the data part only. As I remember you can see the change of audio to data. Once you are lucky covering the right part, you can easily use this method again and agin. Keep trying.
