Just thought I'd throw together all the information we have in one place. If anyone has any more info, let me know. Shivo, If possible, can you increase the number of attachments per post for me please. Cheers
Urban Archaeology was a MoWax exhibition which took place at Gallery Schueppenhauer in Cologne, Germany in 1997.
Here's what Ben Drury had to say about it in 2009 on the Think Silly blog:
"Looked out a couple of photos of the Mo’Wax exhibition in Cologne I mentioned.
It was actually in 1997! It really doesn’t feel that long ago.
We printed 60 20×20? posters and pasted them on cubes scattered around the gallery floor…
The blue cube in the middle is made up of five Futura canvases,
not sure where that is now… wish I’d hung on to it.
Later that night I have hazy memories of an awesome party in a warehouse alongside the Rhine,
Roni Size / Die / DJ Krust…"
The Futura cube is shown in the Futura book. Click here for a photo.
In recent years a handful of sets of these posters have shown up on eBay and moved through the hands of collectors. Most of these sets have been incomplete and have been known to include between 53 and 60 posters.
Below are the only two photos we have of the 1997 exhibition.
Also made for this show was a postcard set (which holds the catalog number MWA004), and a couple of tee shirts.
In 2014, the cubes were on display at the Kickstarted MoWax exhibition by the same name.
Using photos from both exhibitions, I've grouped photos of the prints into their respective 'cubes' in an attempt to create some sort of order.
The full set of 60 prints can be seen in the below image (Click here larger size)
It's also clear to see that the cubes from the original exhibition are not the same as the ones seen at the 2014 exhibit. See below image for reference.
Thanks to DustyStylus and Stupidfish for taking photos of the prints.
