Sad we won’t see the finished product but I think the package is decent for £25 and fair play to him for being honest - any frustration I think should have been about the lack of communication but it does seem to have got personal for a lot of people and like we worked out for 350 copies of the album. Hopefully we will see it one day in the future

Tbh the fact he's willing to print tee's, & press vinyl + tapes is above and beyond at this point.
Clearly the unreleased stuff isn't the issue, but everything that's already out there has so many 'vested interests' - lawyers for companies who bought companies, who bought companies, who couldn't care less except squeezing the 'best deal' they can get for their corporate clients (best example is why almost all De La Soul albums arent on streaming)... And let's face it, the numbers a re-issue would actually sell in 2020 doesn't make it worth ANYBODYs time.
Initially I questioned why Covid would be a problem, but he mentions planning promo events (probably a tour)... Without which I imagine it's just a financial black-hole.
I feel for him, as this was clearly a labour of love that turned into an ongoing nightmare for several years. Obv I'd love to hear HIS version of the album, but I've had an album I absolutely love for 20years, and frankly 99% of demos and offcuts & re-works tend to be curio's to listen to once and forget anyway.
With Jack Leonard apparently stepping away from Unkle, I'd much rather James mentally wipes the slate clean and ventures off at another totally unexpected tangent - it's what he does best.

I think James is spot on with this one. I felt sorry for him reading the message. It’s just an album. For me it was £25 about 7 years ago and I spent more than that on a round of drinks the other week. Not being flippant just in grand scheme of things it’s not that much of a biggie. The whole industry has changed so much since PF, and even since the Kickstarter that it probably isn’t even viable. Personally I think the alternative is more than fair. And the option of a refund too. That said I can guarantee there will be moaners. As long as no one is out of pocket I don’t see the problem.

I'm happy with this. Hopefully he won't get shit from entitled idiots over this. He must have breathed a huge sigh of relief after he sent that.

You know what? This seems fair. The money is long gone, I'd be happy with the cassette if I can get it ripped (o they provide a digital copy). I don't care about the Bloodstain remix, which is what I presume is on the 7".

Actually, I misunderstood the message, I think. Looks like the package is the record, cassette AND shirt?

hmmm... fair enough... 5 years too late... but fair enough... probably has to offer an alternative or he's compromised the original pledge... as I was never expecting this to ever happen I suppose this is an acceptable offer...

Over the last few years he has touched on his mental health, but usually only in reference to 90's DJ Culture. It's good that he's speaking out and hopefully once this is posted on Facebook people will be understanding. It seems like he really did believe this would be released soon several times over the years, and as others have said I can only imagine how taxing that would be. Hopefully he can relax for a bit now before he starts the next project.

but that’s an incredible deal. Didn’t everyone just really want some unreleased stuff anyway no? the t-shirt is a great bonus

Ok seriously ... was I the only person who expected, after the 14th - that they would have announced that shipping had begun... I guess not? I just find it ridiculous that I pledged for these items over a year ago and of course - I'm moving in three weeks. guess I need to see about changing my address... You know what... I totally sympathize with JL now. I'm older, I'm wiser... and, of course I'm moving again . I mean, I appreciate the honesty in the email, and everything is just harder to get done these days with covid... and I can't imagine what kind of legal/rights issues there are with this album. And the alternative option is absolutely more than fair. I'd even suspect he's losing money on it. The £35 for a 7", a cassette, and a shirt sounds pretty cheap. It's a good gesture. (Still looking forward to the 'special package'... I mean, I hope it comes out within my next two moves.

Hope all this stuff turns up soon.
I don't have much excitement in my life at the moment.

Innit. Did anyone get a reply from the email we had to send to the Kickstarter address?
