So I rarely listen to DJ Shadow's solo work post Private Press as I prefer his early stuff and The Outsider really put me off when it came out. I occasionally give these albums a go but nothing sticks.
What do you think of these post PP albums, and can you recommend which album is best? Or is it a matter of select tracks from all of them?

Depends on what you like!
Outsider is a mad mixture of styles, with some great tunes. Less You Know is classic cut-up-samples Shadow. Mountain Will Fall is good for those bass-heavy, 808, future beats.

I didn't even know The Less You Know, The Better existed. Which seems fitting for the title.

I really like the Brixton Live double cd which works the old stuff in with The Outsider, it seems to blend well.

Last year I tried to get an interview with Shadow and was told he was busy recording his next album so hopefully we hear more from him soon.

I didn't really like The Outsider, but I respect what he was trying to achieve with it. The track This 'Time I'm Gonna Try It My Way' is every type of awesome, so I can't complain.
The Less You Know The Better didn't have the Hyphy of the Outsider, but was still a mixed bag. 'Def Surrounds Us', 'I Gotta Rock' and 'I've Been Trying' are the real standouts.
The Mountain Will Fall is the first album since Private Press that I really enjoyed start to finish. He's coming back into form (from my humble perspective). If you haven't seen the video for 'Nobody Speak', you're in for a real treat.
