no card
It's a soundboard recording from a Mo' Wax night at the Mean Fiddler venue/club in Dublin. Mean Fiddler then became Mono, then The Village, and now the Opium Rooms. From my understanding it was a Mo' Wax night.
I cannot find any information about this night on the internet and so dating it is tricky. However, the "DJ Shadow - Stem (Cops 'N' Robbers)" track features in this mix and was released on promo in the UK on 28th October 1996.
DJ Shadow was also in the UK in the summer of 1996 promoting his Endtroducing album and played at some festivals. So 1996 seems the most likely date.
I can't tell if it's both of them on the decks or just one or one and then the other. The latter half of mix if I had to guess I'd say was Lavelle.
It's a good mix. And as far as I know this is it's first ever sharing on the internet.
Sound quality is not perfect for a soundboard recording, but decent nonetheless. There are a few times when you can just about hear the crowd. There are also a couple of mixing issues when it cuts out; I've left these in for authenticity. There's also the classic mobile phone interference beeping early on as someone left their mobile phone on and too close to the speakers!
Anyway, after all the sleuthing etc all you need to do is sit back and enjoy a newly found golden nugget of a classic DJ Shadow & James Lavelle mix.

Ah so it's never been for sale and we're lucky to have it! Well I have another one like yours on the stove, the DJ Krush one! It seems all genuine, the j-card is printed on witht the venue , date of venue and time, the Mo Wax logo is perfect and the cassette was bought in the old Warp Records shop in Sheffield in the mid 90s. Gonna show some more when in hand and ripped.

thanks for the mix - is this new found one? Yes I think it's the new found one, but not part of the Headz Tour, I'm not a Lavelle specialist, what I smoke is pure Shadow but AFAIK nobody mentioned this mix ever, so it's worth dl it I guess. Mentioned here but never uploaded: unkle77.proboards.com/thread/1029?page=2
