The conference was quite cool, Lenny is great at speaking in public. Everyone could ask questions and he answered everyone. It was funny to be in an amphitheater and get him as a teacher like in the good old study days. He talked about graffiti history, street art and his own career, very interesting.
Right after, I came to him and asked him to sign my book. When he asked my name, I told Dale Cooper (my DJ name, really wanted to have this written by him) he said something like "Oh, Dale Cooper, you're the guy with those nice Flickr sets of my exhibs and that Mo' Wax website, great!" which, you guess, was unexpected and hugely pleasant He also called Tabatha to show her the inked pointman on my forearm.
The performance + signing at Colette was much less cool imo. I bought the 2 versions of the bottle before he arrived. The performance was very, very quick : 5 minutes, a few atoms on the shopwindow (there was already a few of them as seen in the pictures above posted by Dunkem, done the day before), and too much very important people in front to see him performing. Then, let's queue with thousands of fucking parisian hipsters to get the bottles signed, VIPs first, obviously. I *hate* that, not my world. I miss words to describe the nightmare it was for me. Well, at least Fu was a gentleman with everyone as usual, signing bottles, cellphones, ID cards (!), backpacks, crutches etc... Too sad I forgot to get me a Paris subway map...
After that, there was the party in a club that was not open to public. I had an invitation but I decided that I had seen too much of those wankers and VIPs. I talked a bit with Lenny 2 times, had a few stuff signed, had been photographed with him, cool enough!
And today I see that at the club there was a wall of packaged bottles on which he painted a big artwork, and that everyone could come and pick one up. Oh great...
I will now drink some Cognac to forget.
